i said this scene was hard for me to watch but now, going back, it’s not as bad (still terrible, fucking lord, so terrible) but i was watching Erica and the thing she seems the most upset about is being in the hospital and having to talk about her seizures. when derek says “what if i could make it all go away” she just smiles like yeah right, no way bro. like she doesn’t seem scared of him, mostly just weirded out, which is fascinating
y’all are already familiar with the god awful power difference and manipulation going on so let me just say
how fucking tragic is it that this is how he thinks you ask people for stuff? i guarantee if he had come up to her after school or something like, hey want no more seizures and a makeover? she’d have said yes. but this broken motherfucker thinks he needs to get at people when they’re weakest, either intimidate or seduce them (possibly a combination of both) and then bribe them to get what he wants. like he immediately assumes the only way he can get what he wants is through bribery or intimidation because no one’ll help him otherwise
